So, Ancestry.com recently released a graphic showing the most popular surnames in each state. The data is according to listings in the white pages, and the names – Smith, Johnson and Williams – are the winners. I already knew my paternal surname would not be on the list, but I was slightly surprised at the top names in my home state of Texas – Garcia, Smith, and Martinez. It’s proof that our country has evolved into a fondue of diversity.  Our country is changing.  And not everyone is a fan of change.  But change can be good.

As Martin Luther King, Jr. once said –

We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.

And now it’s up to all of us to decide if this boat will sink or sail.
