The Real Gay Men of Atlanta

Is there a rule written somewhere that a certain amount of hot mess reality shows must spin out of Atlanta? Seriously.  Where’s the Atlanta Quota Board and how many other drama-filled shows must we prepare for? First, we received “The Real Housewives of Atlanta“, and now get yourself ready for – “Tha Life: Atlanta” a reality series about the gay black men and Down Low Brothas living in the ATL.

For starters, I’m already hating the name.  It’s so… well you know.  It just has a certain level of drama written all over each letter.   Being that this is a show about the well-recognized gay scene in Atlanta, I wonder what the heterosexual men of of the ATL have to say about the city’s new found ‘representation’.  I can’t help but wonder if Eddie Long will show up in future episodes.

You can find a promo for the show below.  From the jump, a male voice utters “Atlanta is the Gay Mecca for African American men.“  Seriously? And he says it with pride.  *No pun intended.  Anyway, the video rolls forward with  speeches from the men, each guy getting ultra-glossy for the camera, and bragging about having it, getting it,  being “kept”, and whatever else is deemed the necessary component to make each one the Bad Bruh on the block.

I watched the entire clip and found myself growing bored before the one-minute mark rolled up.  By the time one brotha started his speech on how Range Rovers and Mercedes  Benzes are the Toyota and Hyundai of the ATL, I was done.

I don’t know when “Tha Life:Atlanta” will hit television.  In fact, it could already be showing in some households, either way I’m not holding my breath to tune in.  It doesn’t quench my thirst.  If this is the best Hotlanta can do when it comes to tv, then the city is a real hot mess.

This blogger is really stupid. Yes Dumb One, Atlanta is Black Gay Mecca. The only hot mess is bloggers like you that can’t be real reporters or insignificant people that hide behind computers or you are probably closeted. Everyone has the freedom to do what they want to do and being gay and on TV is one of them so get used to it and by the way what are you driving a toyota.

Leviticus 20:13 says If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Sexyswagger, I love you too sweetheart. I’ll keep this simple. I don’t want you to get lost in the convo so I’ll try to use short words.

For starters, since it seems I have offended you I won’t apologize but instead let you know everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you don’t like it, then don’t talk about it. I’m not judging the lifestyle because to each his or her own. My position is why is Atlanta the Mecca for launching hot mess shows? There is nothing about this show that says “quality” but then…nothing about your comment said quality either, so I can see you wouldn’t get the post anyway.

In my post, I never bashed any of the men with derogatory terms nor did I comment that the lifestyle was some type of Biblical sin (as many people believe). I remained moot on the lifestyle. But you overlooked that. Instead, you immediately got ‘dramatic’. You want an argument, but I’m not about to give it to you. You come to “my playground” and try to toss sand on me for writing something that you don’t agree with? Give me a break. Off the jump, you start by saying I’m dumb, then you challenge my sexuality and wonder what type of car I am driving. Grow up and accept that not everyone is put on this earth to agree with you. Your comment shows your level of immaturity and shallowness. You went way off into orbit behind an opinion that was not created to please you. I guess I missed the memo that everything I write here on my blog should be at the sole pleasure of “sexyswagger”.

If you are a resident of Atlanta then I pity the city because you are definitely poor representation. And I mean poor in every sense of the word.

With that said, thanks for visiting and please don’t trip on your skirt on your way out.

If you know the Bible you won’t be bragging about Atlanta being a mecca for gay men. I’ll tell you this I don’t want to be in Atlanta when the trumpet sounds. Gay or straight the video is dumb. It’s another mediocre show with mediocre people for mediocre people. It’s a bad representation of black people in America.
